January 2009

Oh dear! I would like to propose that all weighing machines are banned for at least 3 months – say no more! It could be that working hard with our Little Dragons, playing, making, story-telling and singing may help the situation. Perhaps a few renditions of ’The Grand Old Duke of York’, with actions, plus ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ with vigorous rowing action, could be the answer. Of course, a few less biscuits, bread and potatoes will perhaps make the hoped-for result more of a certainty.

For our Little Dragons the good things in life seem to be, on the surface, a certainty. Although, who are we to know what problems and worries might be affecting our Dragon families? We feel privileged at times when Carers share their problems with us and we do all that we can to help, sometimes in a very small way.

There are times when we all have the need to talk with someone, to share our worries and problems both great and small. Some are lucky enough to have family or friends who can ease the burden through the sharing. Some have no-one who they feel they can trust enough.

Trust – a small word with a meaning!

At times we all have difficulty in putting our trust in others; for all sorts of reasons. We may have been badly let down at times in our lives. We may have had different expectations from others concerning a situation or situations and have had our foundations rocked somewhat by the results of those differences.

One of my favourite songs from many years ago gives good advice to those whose lives may have suffered from a severe ‘rocking’. As sung by Fred Astaire, ‘Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again!’

Why not?
